All you need to make yourself self-sufficient is this:

Nappies

You need a cloth nappy. This can be a traditional square or a shaped nappy. Between 20 & 25 of whatever you choose are recommended to keep you in a good supply so you can wash every 3-4 days. Buy less nappies and you will simply wash a little more often.

 

Wraps

Then you need a wrap. There are a huge range of colours and prints available, but, basically, they are all waterproof and most are breathable. There are even organic and woollen wraps, which are more beneficial for babies with very sensitive skin. Schmuggles would recommend 6 wraps in the appropriate size. Many people advise 4 wraps, but we found that this means you are always short of wraps.

 

Liners

Liners are not essential, but do make life an awful lot simpler. Simply place between the nappy and baby. Any soiled liners can be flushed down the toilet. Any wet and non-soiled liners can be washed and re-used. There are many you can buy. We only sell one type, which is the same price as its rivals, but way ahead in its manufacture. For extra softness you can use a washable fleece liner. They act as a stay dry liner too, as the fleece draws the moisture through and works to keep any solid matter ‘in one place’. Especially good for breast fed babies. Also saves money, as you simply keep reusing them instead of buying more flushable liners.
