There are so many nappies out there that making a choice can be really quite daunting and confusing.

 

Very simply there are actually only three types of nappies.

 

Firstly there is a flat nappy. This could be a pre-fold (not great on newborns. Whilst these are cheap and very absorbent, they struggle to hold runny pooh) or terry square.

 

Secondly is the shaped nappy. This is simply a terry square with elastic and velcro.

 

Thirdly there is an all-in-one nappy. With squares and shaped nappies you need a wrap to go over them. With an all-in-one the wrap comes already attached.

 

Lastly, you will need a wrap, if you go for a square or shaped nappy. There really are a multitude of colours, so don’t be phased by them. Essentially they are all waterproof. If you’re buying shaped nappies stay with the wraps from the same company as they are designed to work together. You can mix and match as much as you like, but the simpler the better! Choose from fleece, super soft, cotton outer and more. If you’re a little confused yet, then get in touch and we’ll try to un-confuse you.

 

There are lots of different colours, but there is no right solution. Get hold of some nappies and choose them like you would any of your own clothes. How do they feel?

 

Nappies will be worn every day for around 2 ½ years, so they need to be comfortable. If you like them, then your baby probably will too.
