Environmental Advantages

Disposable nappies are so good at drawing in moisture, that they are drawing moisture from the rubbish surrounding them in tips. This in turn stops that rubbish from decomposing, draws water from the surrounding area and will not actually decompose for up to 500 years.

With cloth nappies, the human waste is recycled through our water treatment plants. Disposable nappies store the human waste they collect until the nappies decompose. How unpleasant is that?

We’ve said elsewhere that each disposable nappy uses 1 cup of crude oil.

Eight million nappies are thrown away each day in the United Kingdom.

Disposable nappies take up to 500 years to decompose.

Every year, eight million trees are felled to produce the pulp used in disposable nappies. Disposable nappies are so good at absorbing moisture that when they are buried in landfill sites, they draw moisture away from other decomposing rubbish and the local water table. This prevents the other rubbish from decomposing.

There are no governmental controls on the chemicals used in disposable nappies.
